Capital flows clearly indicate a shift from U.S. to European assets — and this could become increasingly important for traders in the coming weeks.

According to EPFR data, traders are pulling funds out of U.S. stocks, bonds, and money markets, while at the same time, there is a noticeable inflow into European exchanges — especially in Germany, France, and the UK. In the week ending April 16 alone, European equities attracted $6 billion — the strongest inflow since May 2017 — while gold saw a record $8 billion inflow. In contrast, the U.S. experienced outflows of $5.7 billion.
This rotation reflects growing fears that Trump’s trade policies could hurt growth and stoke inflation. For traders, this translates into capital rotation opportunities — positioning in European stocks and gold may be more favorable in the short term as tariff tensions persist.
If the flow continues, it could support an upward trend in certain European sectors, especially those with export exposure.
