A main factor holding back the euro is the developments in French politics, where Prime Minister François Bayrou is putting his 2026 budget to a vote of confidence on Monday. The bank notes that few opposition parties have a real plan to address France’s budget deficit, which exceeds 5% of GDP. Most of them would prefer to bring down the government.
