Gold doesn’t need a black swan to grow

Ask ten investors why they own gold and you’ll probably get ten different answers. Some see it as insurance against crises—financial crashes, currency collapses, or geopolitical instability. Others link it to long-term factors like the risk of currency depreciation, rising debt levels, and inflation. Still others view gold as a portfolio diversification tool because it behaves differently from stocks and bonds.

Increasingly, a new group of investors is looking to gold for an opportunity for passive income, calculated in ounces, and for accumulating wealth in an asset that has survived for millennia.

Since 1971, when gold was delinked from the dollar standard, its returns have often outperformed stocks and bonds, despite the absence of major crises like hyperinflation or sovereign defaults. This means that gold doesn’t need a “black swan” (a rare catastrophic event) to prove its value.

Gold is used not only as protection in extreme situations, but also as a reliable long-term asset that contributes to portfolio stability and generates passive income through leasing and gold bonds.

This multidimensional role of gold breaks the traditional notion that gold only benefits when crises occur. Historical data shows that gold delivers positive real returns even in stable economic periods with low inflation and a strong dollar.

What makes gold unique is that it is an asset independent of political influences, sanctions, and manipulation, with deep and liquid markets around the world. This neutrality makes it a preferred choice not only for private investors but also for central banks.

The famous expert Nassim Taleb says that central banks are increasing their gold reserves against the US dollar and are increasingly considering it as the world’s reserve currency. Even in the absence of crises, gold remains an important tool for diversification, stability and long-term profitability. It does not depend on turbulence to be valuable. In today’s world, filled with various economic and geopolitical risks, gold is an asset with many faces — protection, income, independence, and security.

Conclusion:
Gold continues to play a key role as a stable and independent asset that not only protects against crises, but also brings income and diversification to investors’ portfolios. In an increasingly unpredictable global economy and growing geopolitical risks, gold is likely to maintain and strengthen its importance as a strategic reserve and reliable financial haven in the future. Investors seeking a balance between safety and yield should consider gold as a long-term partner in their investment strategies.
